A person on the 29th of July went to a station located in Suburban Des Plaines and bought the winning $1.34 billion Mega Millions lottery ticket.
"As far as the winner is concerned, we have not heard from the winner yet," Illinois Lottery Director Harold Mays said last month in the press conference.
"We don't know whether or not they even know that they won the prize, so I encourage everybody to check your ticket."
After more than 30 days, Illinois Lottery officials confirmed that the situation was not resolved.
It turns out it's actually not at all unusual.

However, there is an even more urgent timeframe According to lottery officials, winners only have 60 days from the date of draw to select between option of paying in cash or annually.
This $1.337 million prize is paid out annually over a period of 29 years, If the winner chooses to take to go with an annuity. If the winner decides to go for cash, they'll receive the equivalent of $780.5 million.
As per Illinois Lottery officials the company's petrol station chains will get an amount of half a million dollars to sell the winning lottery ticket.
